Window to Bromlee Lough – Limited Edition Linocut Print
Walks between Milecastle 35 and 36 always draw me in — the ruins at Sewingshields are fascinating, but it was the smaller details that caught my eye. High on the hill, I found little gaps in the stone wall that felt like windows perfectly framing Bromlee Lough beyond.
Even as the rain began to fall, the Lough sparkled in the distance. There was a hush, a calm that made the view feel almost magical.
This print captures that moment. I used a three-layer linocut process to build depth and vibrancy — beginning with two carved blocks to layer colour and texture, then adding a third soft grey layer to give structure and atmosphere. The result is a bold yet tranquil landscape that invites you to pause and look through that same ‘window’.
