On inspiration trips to Whitley Bay, I often pause at the dunes to admire the pebble stacks — or cairns — balanced in delicate, gravity-defying towers. Pebble Cairn captures that feeling of joyful impermanence, with a nod to the beauty of instability.
This lino reduction print is created using hand-mixed inks in bold and unexpected hues — blue, yellow, red and silver — all layered to reflect the natural variety of pebble tones. The print chatter intentionally echoes the precarious nature of the cairns, enhancing the sense of movement and rhythm.
